Iron Carbon Catalyst Initiated the Generation of Active Free Radicals without Oxidants for Decontamination of Methylene Blue from Waters

چکیده
In conventional oxidation technologies for treatment of contaminated waters, secondary pollution the aqueous environment often occurs because additional oxidants generated during process. To avoid this problem, Fe/NG catalyst composites without additives were developed in study decontamination methylene blue (MB) from waters. The catalyst, composed carbon nitride and iron chloride (FeCl3·6H2O), was prepared by high temperature pyrolysis. It is an exceptionally efficient, recoverable, sustainable degradation organic matter. morphological characteristics, chemical structure, surface properties investigated. exhibited MB removal efficiency (100%) within 30 min under ambient dark conditions. experiments indicated that effect also applicable most acid–base conditions (pH = 2–10). characterization results using electron spin resonance analysis intermediate products demonstrated free radicals such as ·OH ·O2? produced heterogeneous system, which resulted efficiency. Moreover, catalysis reaction reducing substances, triggering micro-electrolysis to spontaneously develop a microcurrent, assisted MB. This demonstrates feasibility catalysts generate active species degrading pollutants at normal temperature, providing attractive approach treating organic-contaminated

Free radicals, oxidants, and antioxidants.
Free radicals are species with one or more unpaired electrons. The unpaired electron results in a species that is often highly reactive. Free radicals have a wide range of reactions; two broad classes of reactions are electron transfer and addition reactions resulting in covalent bond formation. Free radicals can be classified as reducing (donating an electron to an acceptor) or oxidizing (acce...
متن کاملComparison of activated carbon and iron/cerium modified activated carbon to remove methylene blue from wastewater.
The methylene blue (MB) removal abilities of raw activated carbon and iron/cerium modified raw activated carbon (Fe-Ce-AC) by adsorption were researched and compared. The characteristics of Fe-Ce-AC were examined by N2 adsorption, zeta potential measurement, FTIR, Raman, XRD, XPS, SEM and EDS. After modification, the following phenomena occurred: The BET surface area, average pore diameter and ...

A Comparative Study for the Removal of Methylene Blue Dye from Aqueous Solution by Novel Activated Carbon Based Adsorbents
This study was conducted to assess the ability of the studied adsorbent, i.e. raw oak fruit hulls and the activated carbon prepared from oak fruit hull for removing the Methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution. This study was conducted under various effective parameters, e.g., contact time, pH, MB concentration, adsorbent concentration. The optimum amount of each parameter was determined a...
